As Robert Downey Jr. gears up to make his seventh appearance as billionaire playboy philanthropist and armored superhero Tony Star, the actor has been speaking to USA Today about his latest outing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, stating that Captain America: Civil War is “like my little Iron Man 4.”
“I don’t think that’s in the cards,” said Downey when asked about the chances of Iron Man 4. “In a way it’s Cap 3 but for me it’s like my little Iron Man 4 and then it’s back to the thing we all recognize. Everything pulls over to the side of the road when the thunder of an Avengers thing comes through because that’s how it is until it changes. If it changes.”

Assuming Marvel doesn’t decide to kill him off (which is unlikely, let’s face it), we can look forward to at least three more appearances from Iron Man, with Downey set to feature alongside the rest of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes in the two-part Avengers: Infinity War once peace is called on Civil War.
Marvel’s “Captain America: Civil War” finds Steve Rogers leading the newly formed team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. But after another incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability, headed by a governing body to oversee and direct the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers, resulting in two camps—one led by Steve Rogers and his desire for the Avengers to remain free to defend humanity without government interference, and the other following Tony Stark’s surprising decision to support government oversight and accountability.
