The latest chapter of the DC Extended Universe, Suicide Squad, has brushed aside the bad reviews to score a $267 million opening haul worldwide.
Domestically, the David Ayer-directed supervillain ensemble grossed $135.1 million, shattering the previous August opening weekend record of $94.3 million set by Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy back in 2014.

Given its production budget of $175 million, expensive reshoots and a hefty marketing budget, it has been said that Suicide Squad will need to earn around $750 million globally in order to be considered a success for the studio.
