Sandra Bullock “wins” big at the Razzies

March 7, 2010 by admin

As has becomes customary the day before the Academy Awards, yesterday played host to the 30th annual Golden Raspberry Awards – honouring the very worst in cinematic achievement in 2009. Worst Picture was presented to Michael Bay’s Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (which also picked up Worst Screenplay and Worst Director) although the biggest news of the night came in the Worst Actress category. Oscar nominee Sandra Bullock turned up in person to collect the ‘award’ for her turn in the rom-com All About Steve, and was also honoured as one-half of the Worst Screen Couple with co-star Bradley Cooper.

Other ‘winners’ include all three Jonas Brothers who share Worst Actor for Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience, Billy Ray Cyrus (Worst Supporting Actor – Hannah Montana: The Movie), Sienna Miller (G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra), and Land of the Lost (Worst Prequel, Remake, Rip-off or Sequel).

With this being an anniversary show there were also special awards to mark the end of the decade: Travolta sci-fi Battlefield Earth was recognised as Worst Picture of the Decade, while Eddie Murphy (The Adventures of Pluto Nash, I Spy, Imagine That, Meet Dave, Norbit and Showtime) and Paris Hilton (The Hottie and the Nottie, House of Wax, Repo! The Genetic Opera) were named Worst Actor and Actress respectively.
