Michael Rowe cast as Deadshot in Arrow

July 31, 2012 by admin

This past weekend it was revealed that the DC Comics super-villain Deadshot would appear in The CW’s upcoming live-action series Arrow, and now TV Guide has announced that Canadian actor Michael Rowe has secured the role of the expert marksman, who will make his debut in the third episode, entitled ‘The Lone Gunman’. Meanwhile, speaking to GreenArrowTV, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg (Fringe) also gave fans an indication of what to expect from their interpretation of the assassin…

“If you’re a fan of the comic book, you will definitely recognize Deadshot in what we are doing. In the same way that the [Arrow] pilot is a more grounded and realistic take on the material, our Deadshot is a more grounded and realistic take on the character than the fully costumed and masked super-villain that you see in the comics… You’ll definitely see the red eye piece, which is the most distinctive, iconic feature of that character, and I will say that with no slam to Smallville intended, it’s a much more faithful version of Deadshot than the Deadshot that was in Smallville.“

Deadshot is the latest familiar face to be added to the cast of the series, with Stephen Amell’s Oliver Queen already confirmed to face off against Deathstroke and China White – the latter of whom will be portrayed by Kelly Hu, whose previous comic book experience includes voice work on the likes of The Spectacular Spider-Man, Batman: Under the Red Hood and Young Justice, along with the role of Lady Deathstrike in 2003’s X2: X-Men United.

Arrow is set to premiere on The CW on October 10th, with a regular cast that includes Katie Cassidy (Supernatural) as Dinah Laurel Lance, Colin Donnell (Pan Am) as Tommy Merlyn, David Ramsey (Dexter) as John Diggle, Willa Holland (The O.C.) as Thea Queen, Susanna Thompson (Kings) as Moira Queen and Paul Blackthorne (Justice League: Doom) as Detective Quentin Lance.
