Colin Farrell and Paula Patton in talks for World of Warcraft movie

September 22, 2013 by admin

As director Duncan Jones (Moon, Source Code) gears up to go into production on Warcraft in January, Deadline is reporting that Legendary Pictures and Atlas Entertainment are looking to secure their two leads for the video game adaptation, with Colin Farrell (Fright Night, Total Recall) offered one of the leads – and said to be “50/50” about whether he’ll accept – while Paula Patton (Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, 2 Guns) is also in negotiations for another lead role.

Warcraft is based upon the hit MMORPG World of Warcraft from Blizzard, which currently has over seven million subscribers and has generated in excess of $10 billion dollars since its launch in 2004. The live-action movie has been in development since 2006, with Duncan Jones coming on board in January 2013 after Sam Raimi left the project to direct Oz the Great and Powerful. Although little is known about the story for the movie, it’s said that it could be set during the earlier real-time strategy entries in the Warcraft franchise.

Warcraft is currently set for release some time in 2015.
