David S. Goyer on who would win in a fight between Batman and Superman

September 26, 2013 by admin

Earlier this week David S. Goyer was in London for BAFTA and BFI’s latest Screenwriting Lecture, during which he discussed the controversial ending to Man of Steel [read what he had to say here], while the Associated Press also caught up with him and managed to get an update on the status of 2015’s eagerly anticipated team-up Batman vs. Superman, as well as asking who would win in a fight between the two DC Comics icons.

“One of the things that has been fun for us, is we’re a bit a further along than what I think people realize. From a fan point of view, you’re conscious of that when you’re working on these things, but you can’t let yourself be paralyzed by that. At the end of the day you still have to create something. And if you try and think, ‘Well what would the fans like’ then you stop being creative. It’s sort of like where does it end? You have to write the story that you want to write, and hope that people want to see it.”

Meanwhile, Goyer also offered up a rather cagey and non-committal response when asked outright who would win in a battle between the Dark Knight and the Man of Steel: “Most comic book purists would says Batman because he is the ultimate strategist. Even though it makes no sense what so ever. If Superman just flicked his finger Batman would be done for.”

Batman vs. Superman is set for release on July 17th 2015 with Man of Steel stars Henry Cavill (Superman), Amy Adams (Lois Lane), Diane Lane (Martha Kent) and Lawrence Fishburne (Perry White) joined by Ben Affleck as Batman.
