Jonah Hill and Emma Stone offered roles in Ghostbusters 3?

November 7, 2013 by admin

Ghostbusters 3 news has been quiet for some time now with the last pieces being conflicting reports from Dan Aykroyd and director Ivan Reitman on whether a script for the long gestating sequel was even finished. While Reitman remains strong that there is nothing in place, Aykroyd claims there are two scripts completed – one with Bill Murray’s Peter Venkman and one without.

Well according to Schmoes Know, Sony have offered Jonah Hill (21 Jump Street) and Emma Stone (The Amazing Spider-Man) the lead roles and are very close to finally greenlighting the project. So perhaps Aykroyd was right all along and a script is done?
If true, it would see the Superbad stars reuinte to play the roles of Jeremy and Anna. Who they are in relation to the original cast is unknown. Of course, this is pure rumour and possibly even speculation. In an age where this kind of information is considered a “scoop”, it’s best to take it all with a pinch of salt until confirmation from the actors or the studio.
Ghostbusters celebrates its 30th anniversary next year so news of a third movie would be timely. But seeing as though the movie was first mentioned in press appearances as early as 1992, it would seem likely that Ghostbusters 3 is going to remain on the shelf as a “what if?”
