PlayStation 4 reportedly suffering Blue Light of Death issues

November 18, 2013 by admin

With over one million PlayStation 4 units sold in the first twenty-four hours a pat on the back is truly deserved for those at Sony; however approximately 0.4% of these sales (so far) have met with the Blue Light of Death (BLoD) – though the machine may not be dead, just not set up correctly.

People are taking to Sony’s boards and customer service lines crying out as their rather expensive piece of brushed plastic refuses to turn on. Sony has issued some helpful fixes which should resolve the problem:

– Press and hold the power button for seven seconds making sure the power is completely off.
– Making sure that the hard drive unit is securely sat in its bay as this will cause power issues.

Sony believes the problems are being caused by either no video or audio output getting to your television; your console registers this issue and indicates to the user that there’s a problem.  That being said, users are reporting that they have changed and swapped the HDMI cables several times and this has brought no joy.

Have you encountered the Blue Light of Death? Do the above fixes resolve the problem? Let us know in the comments below…
