Comic Book Review – Justice League #25

December 20, 2013 by admin

Robb Ghag reviews Justice League #25…

“FOREVER EVIL continues as the Crime Syndicate hunts down the few heroes left foolish enough to challenge them—including Batman’s protege, Dick Grayson. But Owlman has other plans for Nightwing…and Owlman’s teammate: the most deadly being on the planet: Ultraman!”

With the holiday rush, delaying issue #4 of Forever Evil, you have to be satisfied with the Forever Evil tie in with Justice League #25.

To be honest I was very impressed with this storyline, which explains what happened to Richard Grayson, the relationship between him and Owlman, and how Owlman actually came to be. His backstory is dark and twisted, but expertly told with flashbacks by Geoff Johns. Not to mention the way Alfred is involved.

Even the flashback of the “other” Nightwing re-tells the story of Haly’s Circus and the Flying Graysons! This was a great one shot and really does push the storyline forward somewhat for the remainder of the Forever Evil Storyline.

Doug Mahnke does an exceptional job with the artwork in this issue, and it absolutely sets the tone for some of the darker aspects of John’s story. Some of the fighting sequences are absolutely intricate, and even re-introduce one of the classic DC Characters.

Although not a very “Justice League” filled issue, definitely one complete with action, and a great ‘gap filler’ for the upcoming issue of Forever Evil.
