Scott Adkins discusses his audition for The Dark Knight in Batman vs. Superman

January 6, 2014 by admin

Prior to the announcement that Ben Affleck had secured the role of Batman in Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel sequel, an online fan campaign was lobbying for British actor and martial artist Scott Adkins (X-Men Origins: Wolverine, The Expendables 2) to don the cape and cowl as The Dark Knight in Batman vs. Superman. This all stemmed from a post on Adkins’ Facebook page suggesting that he’d tested for the role, and now he’s offered some details about his audition during an interview with Behind the Mask Presents (via CBM).

“They asked me to audition, yeah. And… so I did. But that’s as far as it went. I know there was a big campaign on the internet which was great for the free publicity but I think that’s because obviously Batman’s a martial artist, that’s his superpower, isn’t it? People are disappointed that he has not been shown off as the martial artist that he should be. I guess I look like Bruce Wayne… I wasn’t crossing my fingers, I wasn’t holding my breath, it was great to have the opportunity to audition and let some of those people up in the higher positions know who I am and look at me. But I never expected it to happen. But that whole thing on the internet was just… I am flattered! But Ben Affleck I think is gonna do an amazing job, I’ve always been a huge fan of his and maybe when I’ve won an Oscar, I’ll get the kind of luck that he’s got! But it’s not luck is it? He deserves it.”

Would Adkins have made a good Batman? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below…

Batman vs. Superman is set for release on July 17th, 2015 with Ben Affleck joined in the cast by Henry Cavill (Clark Kent / Superman), Amy Adams (Lois Lane), Diane Lane (Martha Kent), Laurence Fishburne (Perry White) and Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman).
