After a flood of speculation and rumour, James Gunn has taken to Twitter to confirm that he’ll be reuniting with Castle’sNathan Fillion (who featured in Gunn’s previous films Slither and Super) , with Fillion set to make an appearance in the upcoming Marvel release Guardians of the Galaxy in a cameo role. After shooting down talk of Fillion portraying Richard Rider – a.k.a. Nova – in the superhero space opera, stating that the rumours “have been greatly (and entirely) exaggerated, Gunn then went on to admit that the former Firefly star “has a very small fun cameo he did as a favor to me.”
Guardians of the Galaxy is set for release on July 31st in the UK and August 1st in North America, with Gunn directing a cast that also includes Chris Pratt (The Lego Movie) as Star-Lord, Zoe Saldana (Star Trek Into Darkness) as Gamora, Dave Bautista (Riddick) as Drax the Destroyer, Bradley Cooper (American Hustle) as Rocket Raccoon, Vin Diesel (Fast & Furious 6) as Groot, Benicio Del Toro (Sin City) as The Collector, Lee Pace (The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug) as Ronan the Accuser, Karen Gillan (Doctor Who) as Nebula, Djimon Hounsou (Blood Diamond) as Korath, John C. Reilly (Step Brothers) as Rhomman Dey, Glenn Close (Damages) as Nova Prime Rael and Josh Brolin (Men in Black 3) as Thanos.
