Jason Isaacs joins Star Wars Rebels as The Inquisitor

July 17, 2014 by Gary Collinson

Harry Potter bad guy Jason Isaacs has secured another villainous role, with the actor heading to a galaxy far, far away by signing on to lend his voice to the Jedi hunter The Inquisitor, the primary antagonist of the upcoming Star Wars Rebels animated series.

“He’s cold, he’s analytical, he doesn’t get angry,” Lucasfilm Story Group’s Pablo Hidalgo tells EW. “We all took care to make sure our villains have real presence and our heroes just can’t walk all over him. This isn’t like cartoons I grew up with in the 80s where you’d have the villain lose every week and yet every week we’d have to believe he’s some sort of threat. When The Inquisitor shows up, it means something significant and it’s a definite challenge for our heroes.”

Star Wars Rebels is set to get underway in the Fall, with a voice cast that includes Vanessa Marshall (Justice League), David Oyelowo (Rise of the Planet of the Apes), Freddie Prinze Jr. (Scooby-Doo), Taylor Gray (Bucket and Skinner’s Epic Adventures), Tiya Sircar (Vampire Diaries), Jason Isaacs (Harry Potter) and Steve Blum (The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes).
