Power Rangers movie gains X-Men: First Class writers and Roberto Orci as executive producer

July 15, 2014 by James Garcia

The recently-announced Power Rangers film reboot has found its creative team, as The Hollywood Reporter reveals that X-Men: First Class writers Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz will pen the screenplay, while Star Trek and The Amazing Spider-Man 2‘s Roberto Orci is also on board as executive producer.

Orci will produce the film without his long-standing creative partner Alex Kurtzman, under his Sneaky Shark banner. He’ll help develop the story with Miller and Stentz before handing them the screenwriting duties.

Haim Saban, who created the franchise, is also on board this reboot, which will “completely re-envision” the iconic team of martial arts and giant robot-wielding teenagers. This time around, they’re “infused with cool super powers,” and must harness them to save the world.

Now, while Miller and Stentz are credited with writing X-Men: First Class, it’s worth noting that their script was heavily re-written by as many as six writers, including Matthew Vaughn and Jane Goldman. However, they have contributed with Orci in the past on Fringe, and wrote for Andromeda and The Sarah Connor Chronicles as well.

We’ll have more news on this Power Rangers film as it develops.
