Playmobil animated movie in development

November 6, 2014 by Gary Collinson

It has been announced that ON Entertainment, Wild Bunch and Pathe are looking to replicate the success of The LEGO Movie by developing an animated feature film based upon the hugely popular German toy line Playmobil.

According to Variety, the Playmobil movie is being developed by Bob Persichetti, head of story on Monsters vs. Aliens, Shrek 2 and Puss in Boots, with the $80 million production expected to arrive in late 2017.

Launching in 1975, the children’s favourite has sold over 2.7 billion of its 3 inch figurines and playsets across 100 countries.
