Oscar Isaac says Star Wars: The Force Awakens plot theories “couldn’t be more far off-base”

December 30, 2014 by Gary Collinson

During a chat with Yahoo! Movies to promote the release of his new film A Most Violent Year, Oscar Isaac has been speaking about his upcoming role in next year’s hugely-anticipated Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and more specifically, the spy photos, leaks and plot rumours that have plagued the intensely secretive production.

“I can’t speak for the cast and crew, I can just speak for myself, but for me I thought, Don’t you want to wait so you can get the real thing?” states Isaac, who is set to play X-Wing pilot Poe Dameron in the film. “But it creates excitement for it. I don’t think these little leaks necessarily ruined watching the trailer. And also, the [plot theories] that get that formulated based on these things — they couldn’t be more far off-base.”

Isaac went on to comment briefly on his excitement about getting to sit in the cockpit of an X-Wing fighter: “It was hard to believe that I was actually sitting in there and doing that. And it’s physical. You have to kind of get in touch with that child again that had a little X-Wing and would fly around his room making crazy sounds, you had to tap into that spirit again and that was a lot fun. There was a lot of practical effects. A lot of the stuff they actually made. There wasn’t a lot of green screen.”
