From Stage to Screen featurette for Disney’s Into the Woods

December 27, 2014 by Gary Collinson

Coinciding with its Christmas Day release in the States, Disney has dropped a new featurette for the musical fantasy Into the Woods which explores the process of adapting the Broadway musical for the screen. Check it out below after the official synopsis…

Into the Woods is a modern twist on several of the beloved Brothers Grimm fairy tales, intertwining the plots of a few choice stories and exploring the consequences of the characters’ wishes and quests. This humorous and heartfelt musical follows the classic tales of Cinderella (Anna Kendrick), Little Red Riding Hood (Lilla Crawford), Jack and the Beanstalk (Daniel Huttlestone), and Rapunzel (MacKenzie Mauzy)—all tied together by an original story involving a baker and his wife (James Corden & Emily Blunt), their wish to begin a family and their interaction with the witch (Meryl Streep) who has put a curse on them.

Directed by Rob Marshall (Chicago), Into the Woods stars James Corden (One Chance), Emily Blunt (Edge of Tomorrow), Johnny Depp (Transcendence), Anna Kendrick (Happy Christmas), Meryl Streep (The Homesman), Chris Pine (Star Trek Into Darkness), Lilla Crawford (Little Miss Perfect), Daniel Huttlestone (Les Miserables), Tracey Ullman (The Tracey Ullman Show) , Christine Baranski (The Good Wife), Mackenzie Mauzy (The Bold and the Beautiful) and Billy Magnussen (As the World Turns).

Into the Woods opens in the UK on Janauary 9th.
