Will Arnett and Phil Lord talk The LEGO Batman movie

After the massive box-office success of last year’s The LEGO Movie, which ended 2014 as the UK’s highest-grossing film, it was only a matter of time before sequels and spin-offs were going to happen, and sure enough a LEGO Batman movie was announced back in October.

In recent days, star Will Arnett – who will reprise his role as the Caped Crusader in the spin-off – and The LEGO Movie co-director Phil Lord have been speaking to MTV:

“No spoilers, but I will say I think the movie is really exciting because it’s about ‘Can Batman be happy?’,” said Lord. “‘Wah, I’m so rich and handsome, and women like me, and I’ve got a Maclaren,’. “‘Something about my parents!’”

Lord went on to tease the action from the film, saying: “The action in it is incredible. It’s impressive,” with Arnott tossing his two cents in as well, stating that: “The first bit that I’ve seen was mind-boggling.”

The LEGO Movie animation supervisor Chris McKay will direct the film, which features a script by Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter creator Seth Grahame-Smith, and is produced by Lord and partner Christopher Miller.

The LEGO Batman Movie hits cinemas in May 2017.
