Project Almanac director in talks for Power Rangers reboot

April 11, 2015 by James Garcia

Apart from the ultra-violent Power/Rangers short film that debuted earlier this year, we haven’t heard much about the Power Rangers, who are set to get another shot at the big screen next summer. That’s about to change, however, as word has hit that the film may have just found a director.

According to TheWrap, Lionsgate and Saban are looking at Project Almanac helmer Dean Israelite to direct the film, and have him in “advanced negotiations.” Israelite is said to be a “huge” fan of the beloved franchise, and hopes to bring a fresh voice to the property. He has supposedly been offered the chance to helm several tentpoles, but has been waiting for the right project to come along.

The Power Rangers reboot is written by Thor and X-Men: First Class scribes Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz, and is slated to morph into theaters on July 22, 2016.
