Ewan McGregor set to play Lumiere in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, Stanley Tucci also joins cast

Walt Disney Pictures has rounded out its main casting for its upcoming remake of Beauty and the Beast with The Hollywood Reporter reporting that the studio has found its Lumiere in the form of Ewan McGregor.

McGregor is to play the animated candlestick in the film, while Stanley Tucci (The Hunger Games) will also appear as Cadenza the grand piano, a new character described as a “neurotic maestro”.

Emma Watson (Harry Potter) and Dan Stevens (The Guest) will star as Belle and the Beast/Prince respectively, with Luke Evans (Dracula Untold) as Gaston, Josh Gad (Frozen) as Lefou, Ian McKellen (X-Men: Days of Future Past) as Cogsworth, Emma Thompson (Saving Mr. Banks) as Mrs. Potts, Kevin Kline (Last Vegas) as Belle’s father Maurice, Audra McDonald (Private Practice) as Garderobe and Gugu-Mbatha Raw (Belle) as Plumette.

Beauty and the Beast is set for release March 17th, 2017.
