Mike Colter talks Luke Cage and A.K.A. Jessica Jones

April 26, 2015 by Gary Collinson

Having kicked off their partnership with the release of Daredevil earlier this month, Marvel and Netflix are currently in production on their second series A.K.A. Jessica Jones, which will also introduce the character of Luke Cage ahead of his own show next year. Speaking to CNET (via CBM), actor Mike Colter has been speaking about his upcoming role as Power Man, his involvement in the Jessica Jones series, and whether we might see him appearing in other Marvel/Netflix shows in the build to The Defenders.

“I don’t want to give too much away about how much he’s involved in the ‘A.K.A Jessica Jones’ show, but Jessica and Luke Cage have a history and a relationship. I don’t how much will be revealed in the actual series, but yes, I play an integral part. You might see any characters in the series from one series to the next, but they’re stand-alone shows. Each series has their own storyline. It’s not a spin-off. People like to use that word or they like to try and connect the two shows but every character that Marvel planned on developing to series – Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist and Cage – are all separate and they hope to then reunite them in their Defenders miniseries. But that’s way down the road.”

A.K.A. Jessica Jones is set to arrive later this year, followed by Luke Cage and Daredevil season two in 2016. As yet, there’s been no official word on a release date for Iron Fist and The Defenders.
