Chiwetel Ejiofor to play Baron Mordo in Doctor Strange

June 11, 2015 by Jake Wilson

It has been revealed by Deadline that Chiwetel Ejiofor will play Baron Mordo in Marvel’s upcoming Doctor Strange feature. Ejiofor will star alongside his 12 Years a Slave co-star Benedict Cumberbatch, who has been cast as the Sorcerer Supreme.

Though a villain in the Marvel comic book universe, it is not thought that Ejiofor’s character will be a straight up bad guy in the movie, with Deadline commenting that his character will be more of “an amalgamation of characters culled from Doctor Strange‘s mythology.”

The film will also feature Tilda Swinton as the “gender swapped” Ancient One, who is male sorcerer in the comics.

Doctor Strange is set for release on November 4th 2016.
