Michael Douglas is not signed up for any more Marvel movies, but open to return

July 30, 2015 by Gary Collinson

While Marvel Studios have a habit of signing their actors up for multi-picture deals, it seems that Michael Douglas didn’t get the typical Marvel contract for Ant-Man, with the actor revealing that he hasn’t signed on for any future appearances as Dr. Henry ‘Hank’ Pym, although he’s open to a return.

“I’m not signed up to anything more,” Douglas tells Yahoo Movies. “I’ve learned a whole lot and would look forward to more if it comes my way but if not I’ve enjoyed the experience. Now that I understand a bit more about Hank Pym too. I think in this one I had to carry a lot of plot and exposition. In the next one I hope things get a little more bizarre… the Quantum Realm!”

So, at this point we can probably rule out an appearance alongside Paul Rudd’s Scott Lang in Captain America: Civil War, but if Ant-Man 2 gets the green light then you’d have to expect Hank will be back and searching for his wife Janet in the Quantum Realm.

Ant-Man sees Peyton Reed (Down with Love) directing a cast that includes Paul Rudd (I Love You, Man) as Scott Lang, Michael Douglas (Behind The Candelabra) as Dr. Hank Pym, Evangeline Lilly (The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug) as Hope Van Dyne, Corey Stoll (House of Cards) as Darren Cross / Yellowjacket, John Slattery (Iron Man 2) as Howard Stark, Hayley Atwell (Captain America: The First Avenger) as Peggy Carter, Anthony Mackie (Captain America: The Winter Soldier) as Sam Wilson / Falcon, Judy Greer (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes) as Maggie, Bobby Cannavale (The Long Play) as Paxton, Michael Peña (American Hustle) as Luis, Abby Ryder Fortson (Togetherness) as Cassie Lang, David Dastmalchian (The Dark Knight) as Kurt, Wood Harris (The Wire) as Gale, T.I. (American Gangster) as Dave and Martin Donovan (Inherent Vice) as Mitchell Carson.
