SDCC: Teddy Sears cast as Jay Garrick in The Flash, Comic-Con hightlight reel released

July 12, 2015 by Gary Collinson

Yesterday it was confirmed by DC’s Geoff Johns that the original Flash Jay Garrick is set to feature in the second season of The CW’s superhero series, and now we know who’ll be playing the Golden Age hero.

Teddy Sears (Masters of Sex) has been announced as securing the role of Jay, who is described as “a mysterious figure who arrives in Central City to warn Barry Allen and his team at S.T.A.R. Labs of an impending danger that he alone cannot hope to stop.”

“Having Jay Garrick come onto the show was one of our earliest ideas,” states executive producer Andrew Kreisberg. “It is so exciting, as we rush into season two, that we finally get to bring the Crimson Comet to life. We couldn’t imagine anyone more suited to play the original Flash than Teddy.”

It has also been announced that Shantel VanSanten (The Messengers) is to play Patty Spivot, “a police officer and science enthusiast who catches the eye of Barry Allen. Patty is obsessed with metahumans and partners with Det. Joe West this season but has no idea that her new crush is The Flash.”
