Frank Grillo to return for The Purge 3

August 4, 2015 by Justin Cook

Actor Frank Grillo (The Grey) is in final talks to reprise his role as Sergeant from The Purge: Anarchy in The Purge 3.

Variety reported that Grillo almost didn’t return because of scheduling conflicts with his DirecTV show Kingdom, but everything was worked out, and The Purge 3 will start shooting in September.

Very little is known at the time about the next installment in the Blumhouse Productions and Universal Pictures series, but James DeMonaco, who directed the first two films in the franchise, will be returning to helm the project.

Jason Blum and Sebastien Lemercier are set to produce alongside Michael Bay, Andrew Form and Brad Fuller through their production company Platinum Dunes.

The Purge is without a doubt one of the more popular horror movie franchises among moviegoers today. 2013’s The Purge, which starred Ethan Hawke and Lena Headey, made close to 30 times its budget of $3 million at the worldwide box office. Anarchy, which also starred Michael K. Williams and Carmen Ejogo, had a slightly bigger budget, but took in an impressive $110.6 million worldwide.

The Purge 3 is coming to theaters next year on July 1st.
