Rumour: Warner Bros. wants Ben Affleck for a trilogy of Batman solo movies

August 7, 2015 by Gary Collinson

We already know that Ben Affleck is set to co-write and direct a solo movie for The Dark Knight following his appearances in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Suicide Squad and Justice League Part One and Part Two, and now Den of Geek is claiming that the studio are looking to lock him in for three solo Batman movies.

According to the rumour, a private screening of Batman v Superman took place for Warner Bros. execs last night, with the studio suitably impressed by Affleck’s take on Batman to start the ball rolling on an extended “golden deal” for a trilogy of movies. Apparently the studio is looking to work their DC universe around Affleck’s Batman – which is what Anghus Houvouras predicted in his op-ed here at Flickering Myth back in June.

Of course, this is all rumour for now, but Batman movies are license to print money, so it’s to be expected that Warner Bros. would be keen to get as much mileage out of this latest version of The Dark Knight as possible.
