Hugh Jackman says Tom Hardy would make a great Wolverine

September 24, 2015 by Gary Collinson

As we all know, Hugh Jackman will hang up the claws on his signature role as Wolverine following the release of 2017’s third solo movie, and speaking to MTV News, the star has tipped British actor Tom Hardy to succeed him in the role.

“Tom Hardy, he’s younger than me for sure – I think Tom Hardy would be a great Wolverine,” said Jackman. “I haven’t really given it a lot of thought. I’ve been asked that question a lot, and I’m always like, ‘I don’t wanna make it too easy on the studio to replace me, you know! I’ve still got one more to do! I’m sure they’re already talking about it, and there’s some actor [they’ve told] ‘shh, keep it quiet but we want you next!”

Hardy, who this year replaced Mel Gibson as Max Rockatansky in the Mad Max series for Mad Max: Fury Road, has also been mentioned as a contender for James Bond when Daniel Craig decides to call it a day. And as it happens, Hugh Jackman has also said he’d “seriously consider” playing 007 if the opportunity came his way.
