Dino Riders movie in development

October 13, 2015 by admin

In a world where a movie based on Transformers can make over $1 billion, it’s surprising that it’s taken this long for this news to come out.

According to Tracking Board, toy company Mattel are looking to take on Hasbro by bringing their toyline and short-lived syndicated cartoon series Dino Riders to the big screen. Mattel have teamed up with Solipsist Films to bring the franchise to life, and the adaptation is said to be a “action adventure aimed towards a family audience”.

Dino Riders was seen on TV screens back in 1988 to promote the Tyco toyline series. It revolved around a futuristic war between superhuman Valorians and the mixed-species race Rulons, who are then transported back to the prehistoric world. The Valorians befriend dinosaurs and use them as technological vehicles while the Rulons decide the best course of action is to simply capture the beasts.

Mattel and Solopsist Films are now looking for a screenwriter to tackle the project.
