Producer Adam Ripp to take the helm of Poltergeist curse documentary

October 9, 2015 by Tom Beasley

The strange events centered on the production of Tobe Hooper’s horror classic Poltergeist will be the focus of a new documentary from Hollywood producer and filmmaker Adam Ripp (Gambit).

Ripp is set to roll cameras on The Curse of Poltergeist in November, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

By focusing on actor Oliver Robins, who portrayed Robbie Freeling in the first two Poltergeist films, the documentary will explore the horrifying events that befell various members of the cast.

Robins is the only surviving child star from the film, as his on-screen sisters Heather O’Rourke and Dominique Dunn both passed away in the years following Poltergeist‘s release.

Believers in the curse suggest that the use of real human skeletons as props in several of the films may have contributed to a supernatural force turning against the production.

Robins said: “It [The Curse of Poltergeist] will be a journey into the unknown as I attempt to understand the meaning behind the tragedies surrounding the movie.

“It’s something that will hopefully bring closure to a dark chapter in my life.”
