Luke Evans replaces Jared Leto in The Girl on the Train

November 6, 2015 by Gary Collinson

With Jared Leto facing a scheduling conflict, The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Luke Evans (The Hobbit) has taken on his role in the upcoming adaptation of Paula Hawkins’ bestseller The Girl on the Train. The news echoes that of the casting of Justin Theroux, who was cast after Chris Evans faced a similar conflict.

The Girl on the Train “follows a woman (played by Emily Blunt) devastated by her recent divorce who spends her commute fantasizing about a seemingly perfect married couple who live in a house that her train passes every day. Along the way, she becomes entangled in a mystery revolving around the couple.”

The Girl on the Train is to be directed by Tate Taylor (The Help) and features a cast that includes Emily Blunt (Edge of Tomorrow), Rebecca Ferguson (Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation) , Justin Theroux (The Leftovers), Haley Bennett (The Equalizer), Allison Janney (The Help) and Édgar Ramírez (Joy). It is set for release on October 7th 2016.
