Tom Cruise in talks to star in The Mummy reboot

November 25, 2015 by admin

It appears as though Universal are not messing about when it comes to casting their upcoming Monsters Universe. Following the news that they’re looking to cast Angelina Jolie (Lara Croft: Tomb Raider) as The Bride of Frankenstein and Scarlett Johansson in Creature From the Black Lagoon, Variety are reporting that they’re in talks with Tom Cruise (Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol) to star in The Mummy.

Alex Kurtzman is overseeing the Monsters Universe, and will direct this reboot. Plot details are vague, but reports are suggesting that the movie will be set in present day, unlike all previous Universal Mummy movies.

Their Monsters Universe will see classic Universal Monsters such as The Wolf Man, Dracula, Creature from the Black Lagoon, The Invisible Man and Frankenstein’s Monster get solo movies before culminating in an Avengers-style team-up movie. Rumours are also suggesting that the monsters may show up in each other’s films.

Cruise is currently filming Jack Reacher: Never Go Back and will re-teaming with Doug Liman for science fiction movie Luna Park before joining Mission: Impossible 6.
