James Gunn says the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 post-credits scene has already been written

January 28, 2016 by admin

It’s seventeen months away, but James Gunn has revealed that the post-credits scene for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 has already been scripted.

Taking to Twitter, a fan asked if he was still thinking about when the director said that it’s already been written. One has to wonder whether they went over it during the table read.

This is interesting because, historically, the post-credit sequences for Marvel movies are written after the fact, and are often filmed months after the film has wrapped. Gunn, for example, wrote and directed the post-credits sequence for Thor: The Dark World where Lady Sif took the Infinity Stone to The Collector, and the infamous shwarma scene in The Avengers was filmed after the movie’s premiere. In fact when we attended the first screening of Guardians of the Galaxy, there wasn’t a post-credit sequence because it wasn’t ready yet.

Will this tie into Avengers: Infinity War – or will it be a tease for Guardians of the Galaxy 3? We heard recently that Disney have no plans to shut down the Marvel Cinematic Universe…
