Gravity Falls creator says a revival “is not inconceivable”

February 11, 2016 by Gary Collinson

Back in November, Gravity Falls creator Alex Hirsch announced that he was bringing the popular Disney XD animated series to an end with the season two finale. However, speaking to EW ahead of the final episode, Hirsch has now given fans hope of that the show may return at some point in the future.

“[A revival] is not inconceivable,” states Hirsch. “One day we might return to this world; it has such rich characters. With some time away from it, there’s possibility for a special. I think when people watch the final episode, they will see threads in that episode that one could imagine could be addressed in some future form, like in a comic or a special. Right now I am content with what it is, but I cant speak for future Alex.”

“One thing to keep in mind is that I did this because I love the show,” he continues. “When I very first pitched the show, I pitched it as: This show has only a few seasons — just one summer, a few big questions that have answers, and once you get them, that’s it. … It’s more important to me to do something I believe in and am proud of rather than trying to stretch it out.”

The final episode of Gravity Falls will air on Disney XD this coming Monday, February 15th.
