Paramount sets release dates for Transformers 5 and 6 and Bumblebee spinoff

February 12, 2016 by Gary Collinson

Having set up a writers room last year to plot out the future of the franchise, Paramount Pictures and Hasbro have today announced a new slate of three Transformers films, set for release in 2017, 2018 and 2019.

First up comes Transformers 5, which sees Michael Bay returning to direct from a script by Art Marcum & Matt Holloway (Iron Man) and Ken Nolan (Black Hawk Down). It is set to hit cinemas on June 23rd 2017, which puts it head-to-head against Warner Bros. Wonder Woman movie.

Next up – and initially reported in error as Transformers 6 – is a Bumblebee spinoff, which will open against Godzilla 2 on June 8th 2018, followed by Transformers 6 on June 28th 2019.

“This summer we worked closely with a talented team of A-list screenwriters to map out the future of the Transformers cinematic universe, and as [Hasbro President] Brian Goldner announced earlier, things kick off in a major way in 2017 with the release of Transformers 5 in June,” states Hasbro’s Tom Warner. “And we’re working on a spin-off movie centered around Bumblebee for 2018 and the next chapter for 2019.”

Are you excited about these three new Transformers movies? Who would you like to see directing alongside Michael Bay? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below…
