Green Lantern may not feature in the DC Extended Universe until after Justice League

March 3, 2016 by Gary Collinson

It looks like Green Lantern fans have a lengthy wait before they see the character making his DC Extended Universe debut, with Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice producer Greg Silverman revealing to EW that he won’t be appearing in Justice League Part One, and may not even feature until the Green Lantern Corps movie in 2020.

“[Green Lantern] is an incredible character,” states Silverman. “He’s actually multiple incredible characters. There’s real opportunity there. We didn’t do a great job on that first Green Lantern movie. This is a character who deserves to be treated in the same way that Batman and Superman and Wonder Woman are being treated now, which is with great reverence. I guess I can say to the Green Lantern fans: if they can be patient with us, I think they’ll be really happy.”

“Every beat of [Justice League] is not yet worked out,” he continues. “So there’s the possibility that he may or may not be in Justice League 2. For now, we felt that we were introducing enough characters that the best possible place we could put Green Lantern is some introduction in Justice League 2, or barring that, a movie after.”

Will you be disappointed if Green Lantern doesn’t appear alongside the rest of the Justice League? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below…

Justice League Part One and Part Two will reunite Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice stars Henry Cavill as Superman, Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, Jason Mamoa as Aquaman and Ezra Miller as The Flash. Part One is set for release on November 17th 2017, with Part Two following on June 14th 2019.
