After conducting more screen tests, Alden Ehrenreich (who also had a breakout role earlier this year in the Coen Brothers’ Hail, Caesar!) is being reported by Deadline as the frontrunner to play a young Han Solo in Disney’s Star Wars spinoff film.
Ehrenreich was also a part of the short list that emerged online a while ago, which also included such names as Miles Teller (Whiplash), Jack Reynor (Sing Street), and Taron Egerton (Kingsman: The Secret Service), just to name a few.
Ehrenreich is also cast as the lead in Warren Beatty’s yet untitled Howard Hughes project, which will receive a fall release this year.
The Han Solo movie is set for release on May 25th 2018, with Phil Lord and Chris Miller (The LEGO Movie) directing.
