Helen Mirren joins Fast & Furious 8

Beloved British actress Helen Mirren has revealed that she’s set to appear in the eighth instalment of the Fast & Furious franchise.

The Oscar-winner told Elle that, “I said, ‘I’ll be in it, but only if I’m allowed to drive. We’ll see how it transpires.” Mirren’s casting was then confirmed by the franchise’s official Twitter account:

F. Gary Gray (Straight Outta Compton) is directing Fast & Furious 8, with Vin Diesel joined in the cast by Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Eva Mendes, Lucas Black, Nathalie Emmanuel, Kurt Russell, Kristofer Hivju, Scott Eastwood, Helen Mirren and Charlize Theron. It is set for release on April 14th 2017, followed by Fast & Furious 9 on April 19th 2019 and Fast & Furious 10 on April 2nd 2021.
