Mister Sinister confirmed for Wolverine 3?

September 12, 2016 by Gary Collinson

Those who stuck around for the post-credits scene of this year’s X-Men: Apocalypse would have noticed a tease for Essex Corp., suggesting that the character of Nathaniel Essex – a.k.a. Mister Sinister – would soon be making his big screen debut in Fox’s X-Men franchise, presumably in Wolverine 3.

Well, it seems we now have confirmation that Mister Sinister is indeed coming, with director Bryan Singer and writer-producer Simon Kinberg confirming on the audio commentary for Apocalypse that the post-credits scene is indeed a set up for next year’s Wolverine solo movie, which is set to mark Hugh Jackman’s final outing as Logan.

If you can’t recall the scene, it sees a group of men entering the Weapon X facility, with one of them retrieving a vial of Wolverine’s DNA, before placing it in a briefcase marked Essex Corp.

SEE ALSO: Expect to see some footage from Wolverine 3 soon

At this point, we don’t have any details on how Mister Sinister will factor into Wolverine 3, nor whether he’ll be the film’s main antagonist. However, given that Richard E. Grant was described as a “mad scientist-type villain” when his casting was announced, it would seem a pretty safe bet that we know who’s playing him…

Are you excited about seeing Mister Sinister in Wolverine 3? And is Richard E. Grant a good choice for the role (assuming of course that’s who he is)? Let us know your thoughts below…

Wolverine 3 is being helmed by The Wolverine director James Mangold and will see Hugh Jackman joined in the cast by Patrick Stewart as Professor X, along with new additions Boyd Holbrook, Richard E. Grant, Stephen Merchant, Eriq La Salle, Elizabeth Rodriguez and Elise Neal. It is set for release on March 3rd, 2017.
