Parker Posey joins Netflix’s Lost in Space remake as Dr. Smith

Parker Posey (Cafe Society) has become the latest addition to the cast of Netflix’s Lost in Space remake, with Deadline reporting that the actress is set to portray the character of Dr. Smith,the scientist responsible for sabotaging the mission, causing the Robinson family to become lost in space. The character was male in the original series, with Jonathan Harris playing Dr. Zachary Smith.

The ten-episode series sees Toby Stephens (Black Sails) as expedition leader John Robinson, with Molly Parker (House of Cards) as his wife Maureen and Maxwell Jenkins (Sense8) and Taylor Russell (Falling Skies) as children Will and Judy. The reboot has been written by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless (Dracula Untold), with Zack Estrin (Prison Break) serving as showrunner and Neil Marshall (Dog Soldiers) set to direct several episodes.

Look for Lost in Space to hit Netflix in 2018.
