Woody Harrelson says his Han Solo character is “a bit of a criminal”

January 14, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Earlier this week it was announced that Woody Harrelson has signed on for a role in Lucasfilm’s second Star Wars Anthology movie, based around the adventures of a young Han Solo, and now the actor has spoken for the first time since his casting about joining the galaxy far, far away.

“I’m a mentor to Han, but I’m also a bit of a criminal,” said Harrelson in an interview with Mashable. “I don’t think I should say much more than that, because the Force is not allowing me.”

So, not much to go on really, and it’s certainly not a surprise that Han Solo’s mentor would be “a bit of a criminal” given his exploits prior to his meeting Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi in a Mos Eisley cantina.

The Han Solo movie will see Alden Ehrenreich taking on the title role alongside Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian and Emilia Clarke and Woody Harrelson in as-yet-unrevealed roles. Phil Lord and Chris Miller are directing the film, which is scheduled for release in 2018.
