The LEGO Batman Movie director to helm live-action Nightwing film

February 23, 2017 by Tai Freligh

According to The Hollywood Reporter, The LEGO Batman Movie director Chris McKay is in talks with Warner Bros. to helm a live-action Nightwing movie based on a script to be written by Bill Dubuque (The Accountant).

The Nightwing character is best known as the first Robin to Batman.  Dick Grayson was the youngest member of a family of acrobats known as the Flying Graysons.  He became the ward of Bruce Wayne after his parents were murdered.  After fighting crime alongside Batman as his trusty sidekick, Grayson would later shed the Robin persona and become Nightwing in his older years, leading the Teen Titans.

There has not been a live-action Nightwing appearance on the big screen to this point, although the character has appeared in multiple animated series.

McKay has also seemingly confirmed THR’s story by taking to Twitter and retweeting the original story and other Nightwing-related tweets today.

McKay made his feature film directorial debut on the The LEGO Batman Movie and this would be his first live-action directing gig.
