The Netflix Castlevania TV Series will be “R-rated as f*ck” and based on Dracula’s Curse

February 10, 2017 by Jordan Jones

Earlier this week it was revealed that Netflix is bringing an animated TV series based on Castlevania over to its streaming service this year. We now have a bit more information regarding the series, as Producer Adi Shankar has shed a little more light on the project. Speaking with IGN, Adi Shankar confirmed that the series will be based on Castlevania 3: Dracula’s Curse.

“This is very much Castlevania done in the vein of Game of Thrones,” Shankar said. When IGN asked about the audience he was targeting, he states that this adaptation is “going to be R-rated as fuck”. Shankar also promises that “this is going to be the best fucking video game adaptation we’ve had to date.”

There is clearly a lot of enthusiasm for this project coming from its creators, which is always a plus. You may recall that Castlevania 3: Dracula’s Curse is one of the better early Castlevania games, as well as one of the more under appreciated NES games in general. Also, Castlevania 3: Dracula’s Curse is the first game to introduce Dracula’s son Alucard. There is a lot to get excited about here, so let’s keep our fingers crossed for this one.
