Season 3 of Scream: The TV Series will be a reboot

March 18, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Back in October MTV announced that it had renewed Scream: The TV Series for a shortened third season of six episodes, and now Deadline is reporting that the network and Dimension TV are looking to hit the reset button with a reboot featuring a new cast and new storyline.

The site reports that the cast have been given permission to take on other roles while the search continues for a new showrunner to shape and “reimagine” the series for its third season.

The season three renewal was a little surprising, given that season two averaged just 377,000 viewers, half that of its first season. However, it’s said that MTV and Dimension remain committed to the show.
