Billy Dee Williams says Lando is not in Star Wars: The Last Jedi

April 14, 2017 by Gary Collinson

He was absent during Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and according to actor Billy Dee Williams, the smooth-talking scoundrel Lando Calrissian won’t be appearing in December’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi either, with the actor confirming the news during yesterday’s 40th Anniversary panel at Star Wars Celebration.

While he may not be in The Last Jedi, we will be seeing Lando back on the big screen in the near future, with Donald Glover set to play a younger version of the character alongside Alden Ehrenreich’s Han Solo in next year’s spinoff Anthology movie. As for whether we’ll ever see Billy Dee back in the role in live-action… I guess we’ll have to wait and see whether he gets the call for Star Wars: Episode IX.

Are you disappointed that Lando won’t be in Star Wars: The Last Jedi? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below…

Star Wars: The Last Jedi is set for release on December 15th and sees returning cast members Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), Carrie Fisher (Leia Organa), Adam Driver (Kylo Ren), Daisy Ridley (Rey), John Boyega (Finn), Oscar Isaac (Poe Dameron), Lupita Nyong’o (Maz Kanata), Domhnall Gleeson (General Hux), Anthony Daniels (C-3PO), Gwendoline Christie (Captain Phasma), Billie Lourd (Lieutenant Connix), Andy Serkis (Supreme Leader Snoke), Peter Mayhew and Joonas Suotamo (Chewbacca), Tim Rose (Admiral Ackbar), Mike Quinn (Nien Nunb), Simon Pegg (Unkar Plutt), and Warwick Davis joined by new additions Jimmy Vee (Pan) as R2-D2, Benicio Del Toro (Guardians of the Galaxy), Laura Dern (Jurassic Park) and Kelly Marie Tran (Ladies Like Us).
