Oscar Isaac talks Star Wars: The Last Jedi and filming with Carrie Fisher

April 22, 2017 by Amie Cranswick

While Oscar Isaac was absent from Star Wars Celebration last weekend due to a scheduling conflict, the actor has taken the opportunity to discuss his upcoming return as Poe Dameron in Star Wars: The Last Jedi during various promotional images for his new film The Promise.

“[Poe] will be challenged, in a very intense way that will reveal a lot more about his character,” he told Movieweb. “The characters that you know already: their specific character flaws or their weaknesses get tested. And out of that, I think, you get to see a bit more of who they are. The best way to learn about somebody is to see them in a crisis.”

Speaking to Business Insider, Isaac also talked about shooting an action scene with the late Carrie Fisher, stating that: “It was basically my first day [on set] and we did about 25 takes total. Half of them were on me and half of them were on her. I can’t give anything away but there was a scene where there was some physicality there and it was shot just over and over and over. She relished the physicality of it, let me just say. It was pretty intense. It will be funny to see what they cut together based on that.”
