Sam Claflin joins Shailene Woodley in Adrift

May 25, 2017 by Gary Collinson

With Miles Teller passing on the project due to scheduling conflicts, STX Entertainment and director Baltasar Kormakur (Everest) has set Sam Claflin (Me Before You) for the male lead alongside Shailene Woodley (Big Little Lies) in the upcoming sea survival thriller Adrift.

Adrift will tell the true story of Tami Oldham (Woodley), a woman who sets off on a sailing trip with her fiance (Claflin) when their boat is struck by the biggest hurricane in the history of the Pacific Ocean. With her fiance badly injured and their boat in ruins, Tami faces a race against the clock to save herself and the only man she’s ever loved.

Production on Adrift is set to get underway this summer, with Kormakur directing from a script by Aaron and Jordan Kandell (Moana).
