Sam Neill joins Daniel Radcliffe in Escape From Pretoria

May 22, 2017 by Gary Collinson

A few days ago we brought you the news that Daniel Radcliffe is set to star in the prison break drama Escape From Pretoria, and now comes word from THR that Sam Neill (Hunt for the Wilderpeople) has joined him in the cast.

The film tells the real-life story of two anti-apartheid activists who famously broke out of the Pretoria Maximum Security Prison in 1978. Radcliffe is portraying one of the escapees Tim Jenkin, with Neill set to play South African social campaigner and activist Denis Goldberg, a member of the ANC’s military wing and a key figure in the struggle against apartheid, who was sentenced alongside Nelson Mandela and received for life terms, ultimately serving 22 years behind bars from 1964 to 1986.

Escape From Pretoria is being written and directed by Francis Annan and is based on Jenkin’s autobiography, Inside Out: Escape From Pretoria. Production will get underway in early 2018 on location in South Africa.
