Justice League Dark and Batgirl could be next from the DC Extended Universe as Warner Bros. reconsiders its slate

June 8, 2017 by Gary Collinson

With the DC Extended Universe currently riding high following the critical and commercial success of Wonder Woman, it seems that Warner Bros. is now looking to shake up its original DC Films schedule.

At present, the only DC movie that Warner Bros. has in production is Aquaman, which is set for release in December 2018, and with the studio struggling to get the likes of The Flash and The Batman off the ground, THR is reporting that the focus has now shifted to Justice League Dark and Batgirl, which are likely to be the next two projects to enter production.

However, according to a rumour over at Forbes, Warner Bros. is keen to see how fans respond to November’s Justice League movie – which is reportedly undergoing “significant” reshoots under Batgirl director Joss Whedon – before it decides exactly how it will proceed with the future of the DCEU, and whether it pushes ahead with multiple releases each year.

Warner Bros. certainly has plenty of choice when it comes to future movies, with numerous potential projects in development. In addition to the aforementioned Batgirl, Justice League Dark, The Flash and The Batman, the studio has also announced sequels to Justice League and Suicide Squad, Cyborg, Shazam, Black Adam and Nightwing solo movies, and the Suicide Squad spinoff Gotham City Sirens, while sequels to Man of Steel and Wonder Woman are also said to be on the cards.

What would you like to see as the next slate of DC movies after Aquaman? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below…
