Rogue One: A Star Wars Story star Felicity Jones has signed on to portray Supreme Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg in the biopic On the Basis of Sex, which is being directed by Mimi Leder from Daniel Stiepleman’s Black List script.
Variety reports that the film will tell the story of Ginsburg, who was appointed to the Supreme Court in 1993 by President Clinton, becoming only the second female justice, and would face numerous obstacles in her fight for equal rights throughout her career. The project has been in development since 2015, with Natalie Portman previously attached as the lead, and will begin production this September in Montreal.
Jones was last seen as Jyn Erso in this past December’s Rogue One, and has recently signed on to star in a Swan Lake movie from director Luca Guadagnino (A Bigger Splash).
