According to Variety, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story star Felicity Jones has signed on to star in an untitled pitch which is based upon the classic ballet Swan Lake, and has Luca Guadagnino (A Bigger Splash) attached to direct from a script by Kristina Lauren Anderson.
The site reports that the film will not incorporate any of the ballet elements, but will instead use the story of Odette, a princess who is turned into a swan by an evil sorcerer’s curse, as the centerpiece for a major studio tentpole. The project is currently out to studios, with Paramount and Universal said to be among the bidders.
Director Guadagnino’s latest film Call Me By Your Name is set for release later this year after premiering at Sundance. He is also in post-production on a remake of Suspiria, and is also attached to direct the drama Rio starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Benedict Cumberbatch.
