John Cena and Kevin Hart reportedly wanted for Knight Rider movie

A feature adaptation of the classic 80s TV series Knight Rider has been in development for over 15 years now, and if Screen Rant is to be believed, The Weinstein Company may finally be ready to bring Michael Knight and KITT to the big screen.

According to the site, the studio wants WWE star John Cena for the David Hasselhoff role as Michael Knight, with Kevin Hart lending his voice to KITT. Apparently the project is being envisioned as an action-comedy, with a tone similar to that of the successful 21 Jump Street franchise.

An action-comedy version of Knight Rider was rumoured back in 2014, with Chris Pratt and Danny McBride reportedly offered roles, while a mysterious trailer for Hasselhoff-headlined Knight Rider Heroes also surfaced back in December 2015, although nothing has been heard since. Meanwhile, Justin Lin (Star Trek Beyond) is working on a digital Knight Rider series for Machinima, and just this past week The Hoff said he’d like to see Robert Rodriguez direct a gritty, Logan-style Knight Rider movie.
